-_- บทความนี้สำหรับคนที่เตรียมตัวสอบสนามต่างๆ จะได้รู้ถึงการใช้  ‘s กับ of ซึ่งมีความหมายใกล้เคียงกัน

1. ถ้า noun เป็นคนหรือสัตว์ เราจะใช้ ‘s  เช่น Helen’s boat the dog’s tail

2. ถ้า noun เป็นสิ่งของ ให้ใช้ of เช่น The harm of the sea (อันตรายของทะเล) ซึ่งเราจะไม่ใช้เป็น The sea’s harm หรือ The beginning of the story

3. บางกรณี noun ตัวแรกเป็นสิ่งของประเภทองค์กร องค์กรนั้นเป็นที่รวมของผู้คนมากมาย เช่น รัฐบาลบริษัท สามารถใช้ได้ทั้ง The government’s decision หรือ The decision of the government

4. noun ประเภทเอกพจน์ ใช้ ‘s เช่น Arno’s car

5. noun ประเภทพหูพจน์ ใช้ s’ เช่น my students’ car

6. ถ้า noun ยาวๆ มีส่วนขยายเยอะๆ ใช้ of เลยจะดีกว่า เช่น I invited the wife of the Minister of Domestic Affairs (กระทรวงมหาดไทย)

7. คำที่เกี่ยวกับเวลาใช้ ‘s เช่น tomorrow’s meeting

8. ‘s ใช้กับเรื่องของช่วงเวลาก็ได้ เช่น a week’s holiday 3 weeks’ holiday  8 hours’ sleep
